Madeleine Ekeblad

MADELEINE EKEBLAD is an energetic artist and tutor.

Madeleine’s paintings are vibrant, bold expressions of life. By stimulating the spectator’s sense of sound through the subject matter of dance and music Madeleine engages the spectator in very relevant and compelling stories of rhythm and movement.

Madeleine’s work reflects the nature of the artist herself, who lives the dynamic and exuberant philosophy she has for her own art and the role that art plays in society.

‘My world of art is messy, chaotic and all consuming. Music and Dance are my greatest loves and this is portrayed in my energetic style of ‘freeform’ painting. The process is to make art that appears at first glance to be uncomplicated but through the deliberation of taking things away, the viewer is invited to discover the content. Painting is like meditation – it can take you to a place of peace and quiet, and when you paint the world stops’.

Rhythm and Movement
'The passion and dedication of the dancer is a beautiful art to watch the slow mesmerising moves through to the energy spent in lifts and jumps will literally catch your breath.'

Whilst listening to Music
'Your heart will sing with the crescendo, and your body will move in rhythm to centuries of notes and tones.'

She listens to Jazz when working with enamels and acrylics on canvas. The enamel is dribbled on with a stick in a ‘freeform’ manner. When drawing with inks Madeleine likes to use old music manuscripts some dating back from the late 1800’s.

I paint the memory of emotion.
