New Artist Collaboration Desley Rolph

One of the best outcomes as Gallery Directors over the last few months has been reconnecting on a professional basis with artist Desley Rolph. We go back to the very beginning of The Gallery Eumundi over twelve years ago when we worked together closely and experienced successful sell out exhibitions, along with a lot of fun. Having all been on our own journey for the last seven years, we are now delighted once again to be collaborating with Desley and look forward to exciting times ahead.

Desley Rolph has stood in the earthy outback and absorbed the ancient history and painted in an imaginative observational way. The strong desert works feel the ethereal strength of the land and evokes the emotion to experience mystery, thoughts, dreams and hope. Desley now lives on the coast and is embracing the essence of the sand, wind and the ocean, which is translated into more stunning artworks in sumptuous oils. One cannot help but be swept up into the breathtaking beauty of each and every piece.

New Artist Collaboration Pam Walpole

Over the last few months we have had time to reacquaint ourselves with artists in our local surroundings. It’s been a period of reconnecting and it has enabled us to start some new exciting collaborations, which we will share with you over the coming weeks.

We are delighted to be able to introduce you to Pam Walpole with her bold contemporary abstract paintings. Pam is inspired by the Australian environment and the changes that occur throughout the seasons. Influences from natural disasters can often be identified through the works and landscapes can be seen from an arial perspective or up close and personal with the surrounding nature. Pam creates often minimalistic striking art that speaks loudly through singular and strong line work, colour, composition and a clever use of mixed media on delicate paper or robust canvas.

Stolen Van Gogh: Art detective receives photos of ‘stolen work Spring Garden’

An art detective in the Netherlands says he has received two “proof of life” photos in the hunt for a stolen Van Gogh painting.

The 1884 artwork Spring Garden went missing after a break-in at a museum near Amsterdam in late March.

Arthur Brand, a specialist in recovering lost art, told the AFP news agency he had received two dated photos he believes show the stolen painting. According to AFP, the work is valued at up to €6m (£5.3m; $6.6m).

Mr Brand, who has been described as the “Indiana Jones of the art world”, said he was given two photos of the missing painting a few days ago. While he did not explain how he had received the images, he said that they represented “the first ‘proof of life’ we have that the painting still exists”, adding that thieves often destroy valuable pieces of art because of the difficulties involved in reselling them.

One of the photos was said to show a detail on the back of the painting that proved its authenticity. Both photos are shown together with a copy of the New York Times newspaper from 30 May.
