Australia

This is the week on ANZAC Day we commemorate all men and women who have served our nation in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. “Lest we Forget”

As always we acknowledge our traditional owners and custodians of the lands, waters and seas on which we work and live, paying respects to the elders past and present.

Australia is brimming with an abundance of natural beauty and nature, for that, we are in awe and forever grateful. We invite you to view with us some fabulous paintings, which will bring you a small flavour of the richness found within Australia.

If you are in Noosa you’ll find us at 6/32 Hastings Street Noosa Heads. Check out THE G PROJECT 21 for daily opening times.

Patina

To own a bronze sculpture is to have a living form of art. The colour of the bronze surface is called the patina and is the result of oxidation caused by the reactive bronze coming into contact with anions in the surrounding atmosphere. Depending on where you live and the climate, changes occur to individual sculpture over time. The humidity or salt alone in the atmosphere can cause very different spontaneous effects on patinas.

The phenomenon of the patina can also be manipulated by an artist using various chemicals and catalysts such as intense heat to speed up the reactions. The beauty of patinas and bronze means that no two sculptures will ever be exactly the same nor respond to their environment in the same way. Though you may purchase a sculpture that is a limited edition, how the patina changes over time will be unique to you and your surroundings, a simple serendipitous reaction responding to the atmosphere.

We have three bronze sculptors; Rhonda CaoStephen Glassborow and Mireia Serra who all work with methods to provide stunning and very unique results. Please explore our bronze sculptures available and enjoy the eclectic patinas as well as the wonderful forms produced.

Works on Paper

We’ve always had a love for works on paper, there are so many ways you can present them with such fabulous framing options available. Hanging can be so individual, in a series or part of a Salon-style Hang. The salon hang originated at the French Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in 1667 in Paris. The floor to ceiling installation of paintings was originally a practical choice to ensure that all the artworks of the students of the Academy would fit on the walls of the gallery.

This week we introduce you to some wonderful works on paper available at The Gallery Eumundi. The flexibility of such works is endless.

HAPPY EASTER

Easter often marks a time of seasonal change as well as a Christian celebration. Spring and the emergence of new life in the Northern Hemisphere and the cooling down and preparing for winter here in the Southern Hemisphere. This year feels a little different as around the world there are many unusual changes occurring during a year-long Global Pandemic.

So whether you are tentatively emerging from a lockdown, presently within a lockdown or even preparing for another potential lockdown, we are all united in the recognition that the simple things in life, a little normality, physical meetings with friends and family or even the changing of the seasons alone are wonderful. With this in mind, we have chosen some delightful pieces of art for you to enjoy wherever you are and whatever you are doing and we wish you a happy and healthy Easter in 2021.

The Gallery Eumundi at 6/32 Hastings Street Noosa Heads will be closed on Good Friday and will open for the remainder of the Easter Weekend. Check out THE G PROJECT 21 for daily opening times.
