Finalists announced for Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes 2021

Australia’s most engaging art event. The Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes is an annual exhibition eagerly anticipated by artists and audiences alike.

The Archibald Prize, first awarded in 1921, is Australia’s favourite art award, and one of its most prestigious. Awarded to the best portrait painting, it’s a who’s who of Australian culture – from politicians to celebrities, sporting heroes to artists.

The Wynne Prize is awarded to the best landscape painting of Australian scenery, or figure sculpture, while the Sir John Sulman Prize is given to the best subject painting, genre painting or mural project in oil, acrylic, watercolour or mixed media.

Each year, the trustees of the Art Gallery of NSW judge the Archibald and Wynne, and invite an artist to judge the Sulman. The 2021 judge is Elisabeth Cummings.

Congratulations to the winner of the 30th annual Archibald Packing Room Prize, Kathrin Longhurst for her portrait, Kate, of the celebrated Australian singer and songwriter, Kate Ceberano.

Winners in the ArchibaldWynneSulman Prize competitions will be announced on 4 June 2021…

Oil Painting

This week we thought we would introduce you to some gallery artists who paint solely in Oil. Oil painting has been around since roughly 650 AD and is the process of painting with pigments with a medium of drying oil as the binder. Commonly used drying oils include linseed oil, poppy seed oil, walnut oil, and safflower oil.

There are many different components, methods, and tools to produce a beautiful painting that will last the test of time. Enjoy each artist showcased today and the uniqueness of their work.

If you are in Noosa you’ll find us at 6/32 Hastings Street Noosa Heads. Check out THE G PROJECT 21 for daily opening times.

Showcasing New Works in Singapore in 2021

It is eighteen months since we last exhibited in Singapore. We miss the vibrancy and buzz of the city and the Singapore art market as well as reconnecting with our Singapore friends and clients.

We know it is unlikely that we will be able to visit this year in person with both Australia and Singapore being very stringent on travel restraints, quarantining and vaccination programmes. With this in mind and the need to remain connected, we are contemplating taking a wall space at the Affordable Art Fair in November and sending fabulous works by a few Australian artists who we know you love. The art could be physically in Singapore and would be introduced by a fabulous art assistant on the ground…

We would love some feedback from you to help us finalise our decision! Could you be the finger on the Singapore pulse and communicate your thoughts to us?

Will you be visiting an art fair this year? Would you like to see some new art pieces from Australia? Do you have work by a particular artist that you’d like to see up close and personal?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. It’s not going to be as fun as meeting up face-to-face but this could be the next best thing.
