Leon Zhan Bio Leon Zhan is an Australian-Chinese artist based in Melbourne working across painting and sculpture, currently undertaking his Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting at RMIT University graduating in 2022. Zhan’s highly finished and graphic pictorial practice leans into the power and simplicity of mass cultural iconography and languages. Embracing the economies of cultural visual catalogues that appeal to the masses, the poignancy of his work lies in the convergence of historic and contemporary subjects, ideas and aesthetics that derive from popular culture, Chinese antiquity, graphic design and more, to synthesise new meanings.
