Pam Walpole

Pam Walpole Bio A diploma in Commercial Illustration at Brisbane Central Technical College – now QUT, followed by a career as a graphic artist in various Advertising Agencies until completing a Fine Art degree at the Brisbane Institute of Art. Pam has had 15 solo exhibitions to date and many selected exhibitions. She has won numerous awards in both painting and sculpture, spanning her Fine Art career. Her bold contemporary style depicts the landscape – from an aerial perspective or close-up sections of waterways. Natural disasters like bush fires and floods are expressed in charcoal, paint and mixed media – subjects Pam finds compelling. Pam’s subjects have been inspired by her travels – across the vast Australian landscapes and overseas. Bold and contemporary, often minimal in style she likes to portray the essence of her surroundings, close-up vignettes of patterns and shapes, capturing the lines of shadows and reflections - particularly by reflections in waterways, inlets and creeks – marks of mangroves and the minutiae of life in the shallows. Aerial views capture the extensive distances between properties, settlements and waterholes resulting in large mixed media works on canvas or smaller works on paper. Her creative practice has ranged from sculpture, painting and drawing, to outdoor art festivals including art installations in Floating Land Festival, Noosa and SWELL Sculpture Festival, Currumbin, Gold Coast and other public places. Her work is included in Public and Corporate collections throughout Australia and overseas including paintings for both Public and Private Hospitals. Among many commissions are paintings for the Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital, Greenslopes Private and Brisbane Royal Women’s Hospitals Pam has exhibited in Japan, South Korea – enjoying a residency and exhibition in Ulsan South Korea in 2008 and Fabriano in Italy. For the past three years she has been selected as one of 15 artists to represent Australia in the Fabriano International Watercolour Exhibition, Italy which includes 70 countries throughout the world.
